    Celebrating Club Classics from 1995-2015

Colours are proud to announce our event to celebrate all that was great about The Arches Glasgow. On Friday 29th September, we’ll be taking over The SSE Hydro for a night of dance floor anthems, with a twist! The 60-piece Scottish Festival Orchestra will play some of dance music’s most recognisable hits, all tracks that made The Arches an unforgettable venue when they were played throughout our 20-year residency.

The Arches was a spiritual home for us and thousands of clubbers from 1995-2015, so we knew we had to throw a MASSIVE event to keep the memory alive. We brought some of the BIGGEST names in dance music including Carl Cox, Sasha + John Digweed, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Paul Oakenfold, Frankie Knuckles, Erick Morillo, David Morales, Paul van Dyk, Deadmau5, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Hardwell and Armin van Buuren, all now household names and headline artists at festivals around the globe, all played the Midland St venue, some of them for the very first time in the UK!

Expect to hear some of the biggest & best dance tracks that were the soundtrack to our residency, spanning across all the genres. Think you’ve heard the best dance anthems played by an orchestra? Think again! Prepare yourselves for the night of your life on Friday 29th September 2017.

We have curated a track list that dreams are made of, complete with anthems that have stood the test of time and provided some huge hands in the air moments at The Arches. All generations are covered, if you attended one of our shows at The Arches from 1995-2015, you can bet that there will be more than a few tracks that send tingles down your spine as soon as the bass drops. The legacy of one of the world’s most iconic venues will live on at The SSE Hydro on Friday 29th September, with a soundtrack that defined an era that time will never forget.

We are delighted to be working with the Scottish Festival Orchestra and Tron Community Choir (formerly The Arches Community Choir) to bring you this event.

The Scottish Festival Orchestra, assembled from the leading professional orchestral musicians in Scotland, regularly perform with a wide range of artistes at many major venues throughout the country. Ben Folds, Nicola Benedetti, Belle and Sebastian, Idina Menzel, Eddi Reader and the Chieftains are only a few of the household names that have performed with the orchestra. Conductors have included, John Pryce-Jones, Iain Sutherland, Rob Moursey, Gavin Sutherland, Sir James MacMillan and Robert Ziegler.

The administrator for all the orchestra's activities is independent orchestra contractor and professional freelance cellist John Davidson.

John says, “I was delighted to be given the opportunity to assemble my players again, for this fantastic event and collaboration in September at The SSE Hydro. The partnership of a full size orchestra and club brand will certainly be an incredibly 'hot ticket'. Having performed at this awesome venue a number of times, the atmosphere with thousands in attendance will undoubtedly be a most memorable one and we're greatly looking forward the concert.”

The Arches was one of Europe’s leading cultural venues, playing host to some of Britain’s biggest club nights and an eclectic range of gigs, as well as exciting new theatre and visual art exhibitions.

The event has the blessing from former artistic director & founder of The Arches, Andy Arnold. “When I got the keys to The Arches back in 1991, we just wanted to make theatre shows and we started to run club nights at the weekends simply as a means to pay the bills. After a few years The Arches had transformed itself into one of the most electric and atmospheric nightclubs in the world! It’s brilliant that it will be celebrated in this way - keeping alive the memory of a totally unique theatre and dance venue.
