We're very excited to have DUDS back for their first Glasgow headline show after appearing as secret guests at our Spring Fling and again at Freakender 2017. having grown out Manchesters amazing DIY scene, we caught them a few times in Manchester and Glasgow and they instantly hooked us on their short, angular, jaggy post punk hits. With appearances at BBC 6 Music festival this year, a tour with Omni, 2 live sessions with Marc Riley BBC 6 music, 3 fantastic EPs and their debut album just released on Thee Oh Sees own Castle Face Records (the first UK band to do so) you don't wanna miss them.

Don't just take our word for it...

'A tight, succinct 5 piece that is centred around sharp bursts of rhythmical energy. They hail from Manchester, UK, forming in early 2015 and have made steady and assured progress towards their current sound without sacrificing a continuing developing and experimentation in their music. Their songs, kaleidoscopic in their scope, comment on the human condition and arbitrary, often strange scenarios or themes. The forthcoming debut album has managed to deftly solidify the groups taut, muscular live sound into 12 distinctive songs. Veering from angular, acidic guitar infectiousness and bulldozing bass and drums, to more reflective and spaciously delicate art rock, ‘…Of Nature Or Degree’ is also peppered with flares of free jazz skronk and ruminates with a decimating post-punk minimalism that unequivocally shows DUDS perfectly pitched clarity in their sound and their vision, managing to focus these competing sonic influences into a deadly cohesive long player.

It’s a sound that within the last year has seen the group at their most in-demand, frequently playing for promoters in the Manchester and Leeds DIY scenes. It has also seen them act as main support for internationally recognised and critically acclaimed acts such as Gang of Four, The Raincoats and Omni. October/November of 2016 saw the 5 piece embark on a tour of Sweden and the UK to promote the Wet Reduction EP (released on the Swedish label Maternal Voice), which ultimately drew the attention of Castle Face records as well as BBC Radio 6’s Marc Riley, who has continued to play the groups music weekly and resulted in a recent on-air live session in January 2017.'
    -David Mclean (Tombed Visions Records)

"When I was first told about Duds, it came with the considered opinion that the guys were far from what you’d call ‘careerists’.
“They don’t take themselves too seriously” was another comment. I could have taken this as a warning that they weren’t in to for the right reasons - but that couldn’t be further from the truth. From my perspective Duds simply won’t bend over backwards to ‘get on’. They do what they do and you can take it or leave it. I took it - with both hands… with a vice-like grip. They have the invention and urgency of Edinburgh Legends The Fire Engine’s. The Post-Punk ethic. Short songs, short sets = short album.
They’re one of the most thrilling bands I’ve seen in years - and the fact that they’re releasing this brilliant piece of work on the Castleface label adds the last piece of a perfect ‘outsider' jigsaw puzzle. Duds sitting alongside Oh Sees, Ty Segall, White Fence, Useless Eaters et al. THERE IS A GOD!”

    - Marc Riley June 2017

'You kind of know where you are (in a good way) with a band name like Duds, self-effacing in the the way only the British can be. Lacking even the qualification of the definite article! Musically they don’t disappoint either. Lead-off track 'No Remark' from their latest EP Wet Reduction has an element to it that doesn’t quite qualify as music (in all the right ways) a bit atonal, in some rhythm that’s not 4/4 but is somehow some kind of pop from another dimension.'
