Shiatsu for Birth Professionals (Glasgow)Workshop
24 February 10:00 - 17:00
A TWO DAY COURSE FOR MIDWIVES, DOULAS, AND ALL MATERNITY CARE PROFESSIONALS.
Introduction to Shiatsu for Birth Professionals
This is a stand alone 2 day course and also a module on the 6 day certificate course. If you attended the February 2017 module this will be different material so your progression continues, but also this is suitable for complete beginners.
Shiatsu massage and touch are powerful tools to include in your work in supporting women. The Well Mother approach enables Midwives, Doulas, Obstetricians, Physios etc. to learn about the effects of acupressure, and about how and when to use the points within the context of the energy of pregnancy and childbirth. For each 2 day module of the 6 days course we build awareness of how to use simple touch techniques to balance the energy of the extraordinary vessels, specifically relating to the dynamics of pregnancy and childbirth, adapting techniques to use in different positions and situations as appropriate. You will gain in depth skills that are simple to apply and integrate into your work to enhance your practice. You will learn to work in an holistic way, combining Ancient Eastern and Modern philosophies. Relevant skills are: specific ways of touching, supporting the energy of childbirth, using acupoints effectively, awareness of posture and movement, and awareness of the energy of the birth environment and it’s influence, moving towards ‘holding space’ with energy awareness.
You will also explore how shiatsu-based skills can support you personally – promoting your own well-being and preventing ‘burn-out’.
Cost: £100 per person. Class numbers are limited to ensure individual attention.
Course is 2 days: 10.00am-6.00pm
Taught by Wellmother teacher Lucy Trend
Graduates of all types of Well Mother training courses are welcome to come along for revision purposes. Massage therapists and Shiatsu practitioners with an understanding of the physiology of late pregnancy/childbirth are also welcome.
